so why didn't you think you were in a cult when you were a jdub?
my "worldly" husband always told me i was in a cult when we were dating..i didn't believe him.
but, to this day i still don't know why i didn't agree with him.
For the same reason I preached against "ORGANIZED" religion while I was part of God's only worldwide "ORGANIZATION". Now that's pretty damn mislead.
W.Once
(of the "I'm against organized religion" because the "organization" says so, class)
and the judge believed her bs?
i'm calling shenanigans!.

Ok, fill me in... What's this liscence business? You have to pay to own a tv in the UK? Is it all cable reception and you're paying to have the service I assume? Is there no more broadcast service for free? Was there ever? Here in the U.S. we still have free TV over the airwaves, its limited alright, but its there. Whats the deal over there?
The article said that the judge made his decision based on the evidence, not simply the witnoids word.

my elderly dub aunt (who's the biggest whiner the world has ever seen) came over tonight to first of all, whine about how her neighbour shuts her kitchen cupboard doors in the most annoying way possible and her dog barks and what was she supposed to do about it?
anyway, as soon as these monumental problems were solved, she informed me that at the bookstudy the other night, the conductor told everyone to "stay after the prayer" as he had 'something important to announce.
" naturally everyone did this, all the while wondering if the red phone at patterson was in direct contact with jehovah himself as the study was being conducted.
WIllyloman,
That was my thought exactly. Drop a meeting/combine it. They have to shake things up or lose more people. THe repetition is mind numbing. There is no sense of time passing because its always the same moment, like the movie Groundhog Day, over and over again. UGH. Look how they changed the Theocrappy Miniscule so there's no more counsel from the platform. I actually haven't attended a single school under that arrangement I'm proud to say.
They wont like it? Bullship, that's why they would do it, retention!
Ok, that's my thought.

Wow! 103.
What sort of parts does he play, Dead body #2?

i thought the movie was well presented.
the drama of the two men trapped was engaging.
the only problem is that it seemed like they were the center of the whole event.
Terry,
Well put. My observation was based on the subtle (?) connection between the words of the zombie marine rescuer on revenge and the epilouge of his serving in Iraq is uncharacteristic of Stone. This is a conclusion that I found a kindred spirit with in the following review:
Notice the words of Michael Koresky: "The mini-narrative of Dave Karnes (Michael Shannon, in a performance so wooden, ethereal, and divorced from the rest of the film, it’s seems likely to have been shot by a second-unit director), the business-man who immediately quits his day job, goes to church (the cross is seen in gigantic close-up onscreen), shaves his head, and dons full marine regalia before discovering and rescuing John and Will from the rubble, seems designed only to provide Stone with a thoroughly counterintuitive move. “It’s going to take a lot of good men to avenge this,” he says; there’s no hint of irony here, even when at the close of the film a title card announces that this nearly anonymous hero served two tours of duty in Iraq. It’s a conclusion that plays right into the misconceived, if highly successful, ideological connection between 9/11 and the current Iraq debacle." The Karne's character was nearly a distraction from the drama of the film. He was a caricature more than a person. When asked for a shorter version of his name, indicating his personal name sans military title, he says "Staff Sergeant". That was absolutely the U.S. version of the same sort of idealistic, self suppression that the Islamic nutjobs show in thier fighting. The difference is his was the religion of nationalism and thiers is the religion of religious craziness.
Again, I thought it was an entertaining movie. It could have been about a kid trapped in a mine and it would have been the same story, people coming together for a common goal.

missing the friends left behind
miss any of their friends that they left behind in the organization.
understandable in a way, why they feel the way they do.
This of course is the most painful realization of all, the fact that it was all conditional including the most sincere promise of eternal friendship. Those of us who are hurt most by this betrayal are the ones who truly loved and did for others for who they were and not thier "Level of Activity".
Such a betrayl inspires self pity, then hatred, followed by missing what never was.
I'll look elsewhere.

I thought the movie was well presented. The drama of the two men trapped was engaging. The only problem is that it seemed like they were the center of the whole event. I'm sure that is because they were the focus of this tale. Regardless, it seemed to fall into a semi-patriotic "revenge" inspiring tale. That was a turn off for me. Only because at the end there was a statement that the guy who found them went back into the marines and did two tours of Iraq as if that were the way to get revenge for 9/11. A little disengenuous to me.
What did you think?
